100% availability, zero network dependency
- Digital access services keep running even with no network at all. Every entry, exit and barrier decision is made on the local edge device, so connectivity outages have no impact on day-to-day site operations.
2ms barrier response
- Camera events are processed locally on the edge device, so the barrier reacts in around 2ms — versus ~200ms over a LAN trip to a central server, or up to 2 seconds over 4G. Drivers don't wait, queues don't build.
Works offline for over a week
- If the link to the core server drops — broken fibre, 4G outage, ISP problem — SiteGuard keeps making access decisions locally for more than seven days. Your site stays open even when your network doesn't.
Private VPN to the core server
- Access data syncs both ways over a private VPN to the central Visitor Express platform. Bookings, allow lists and ANPR plates flow down to the edge; arrivals, departures and event logs flow back up. No data ever sits on the public internet.
Real-time guard tablets
- Security guards on site operate tablets that see every entry and exit event the moment it happens. No polling delay, no refresh button — events stream directly from the local edge controller next to them.
Local ANPR decision making
- Cameras feed directly into the edge device, which matches plates against the local allow list and triggers the barrier in a single hop. No cloud lookup in the critical path.
Resilient by design
- SiteGuard is built for sites where uptime matters more than central control — gatehouses, depots, secure perimeters. The edge keeps running when everything else fails, and reconciles cleanly when the link comes back.
Single source of truth
- All edge devices sync to the same central Visitor Express server, so reporting, audit trails and configuration changes still happen in one place — even though the live decisions happen at the edge.
Integrates with the rest of Visitor Express
- SiteGuard works alongside the parking, visitor management and core modules. Bookings made in the app reach the gate; arrival events surface in reception and on host notifications.
